Description of Activities:
FUN, FUN, FUN and new practices for your equine and you.  The Scurry at Butterfield's ranch in Prescott is planned for Sunday November 21st and coming along in preparation. Your equine will compete only against others in your division - VSE, pony or horse (including multiples). We will begin Sunday morning at 10:00 AM and the scurry will be followed (after a short lunch break) by a country drive - shorter for VSEs, medium for ponies and longer for horses.

The scurry puzzles, all visible from the dressage arena, are:
"Circle the wagons" - four wagons or carriage vehicles set in a clover leaf pattern;

"I got your back" - two short back ups to knock off a pole from two cones;

"How do I get outta here!" - into a circle, turn around to get back out;

"Roman tracks" - a set of angles in a 50 foot line.

You may take these in any order by beginning with a 5 second stand in a rectangle inside the dressage arena and returning there after each section of puzzle, standing 5 seconds and out again to the next puzzle piece. You and your equine will return to the rectangle for the final 5 second halt.

The routes for the country drive will be marked and you will check through the start gate with a time and return through the same gate for finish time. Again, the successful driver/equine team will be closest to the average of contestants in that division ... so fast and slow are not the target.  You will want to go at a steady, reliable pace with obedience contributing to a good go.

There are no entry fees, no stall fees and no prizes; just big smiles. Simply show up and drive. Bring your lunch. All trails and hazards will be open for your personal use as well.

So take a look and plan to join others interested in trying out a new kind of competition and enjoying a day of driving in the Prescott area.  Pdf for printing
