Pleasure Driving Working Classes -All entries are in the ring at the same time (class split if necessary). Shown both ways of the arena at a walk, slow trot, working trot, and strong trot. Required also to stand quietly both on the rail and while lined up, and to rein back. All entries chosen for a workout may be worked both ways of the arena at any gait requested by the judge and my be asked to execute a figure of eight. Pleasure Driving Reinsmanship Classes - Entries are judged primarily on the ability and skill of the driver. To be shown at a walk, slow trot, working trot and strong trot. Driver shall be required to rein back. All drivers chosen for a workout may be worked at any gait requested by the judge and may be asked to execute a figure of eight and/or perform other appropriate tests. To be judged: 75% on handling of reins and whip, control, posture and overall appearance of driver; 25% on the condition of harness and vehicle and neatness of attire.

Pleasure Driving Turnout: These classes are offered for each division and /or specific vehicle or driver constraints. Generally they are described as follows: Entries are judged primarily on the performance and quality of each turnout. To be shown both ways of the arena at a walk, slow trot, working trot and strong trot. To stand quietly and to rein back. All entries chosen for a workout may be worked both ways of the arena at any gait requested by the judge, and may be asked to execute a figure of eight and/or perform other appropriate tests. To be judged: 70% on the condition, fit and appropriateness of harness and vehicle, neatness and appropriateness of attire, and overall impression; 30% on performance, manners and way of going.

Jack Benny Pleasure is limited to entries with a combined horse and driver age of 65 or over. This class is judged as a working pleasure class as described above.

Drive then Ride  involves entries to be shown in two concurrent sections:
A. In Harness: To be shown to a suitable pleasure driving vehicle, both ways of the arena at a walk, slow trot, working trot, and strong trot. To stand quietly and to rein back. B. Under Saddle: To be shown both ways of the arena at a walk, trot, and canter. To stand quietly and to rein back. To be judged: 50% on performance, manners, way of going and suitability in harness; 50% on performance, manners, and way of going under saddle.  Ridden portion may be shown in either English or Western tack. It is appropriate for rider dress to match choice.

Obstacle Ring Classes:

Scurry: A scurry is driven over a course of unnumbered obstacles consisting of cones and balls, or the equivalent, not to exceed 10 obstacles. After passing through the start markers from any direction, the driver proceeds at the trot through each obstacle from any direction, in any order. Each obstacle must be driven once. Upon completing the course, the driver must pass through the finish makers from either direction. Time to complete the course is taken. Run out and refusals and circling are not penalized. Course faults (knocking down balls, etc.) are scored as penalty seconds and added to the elapsed time. Placings are determined on a low total time basis.

Your Route - My Route: Timed course, with 10 cone obstacles to be driven according to the specified route. Once gate ten is completed, the competitor must re drive the 10 gates in any order and any direction. Finish gate may be taken in either direction. Elimination if a gate is skipped. Time penalties for knock downs, or other infractions of rules.

This course will be the first to be run in the Obstacle Ring 2. It will be open for walking after Friday afternoon. NOTE: For this course only, the Small Equine division will be called to complete the course first, then distances will be reset and course will open to all other divisions in no specific order. Check in at gate when ready, to be put on the order of go. Entries will be called to the gate if no one is on deck.

Gambler’s Choice: To be driven over a course of unnumbered obstacles each carrying a specific point value. Each driver has the same amount of time to negotiate as many obstacles as possible.  Each obstacle is assigned a point value according to its degree of difficulty and each driver tries to amass as high a score as possible within the time allowed. After passing through the starting line, the driver may drive through the obstacles, in any order, from any direction. Each obstacle may be driven twice, but not in succession. No obstacle may be re-driven once it has been disturbed. (Exception: obstacles which are designed to be knocked down.). If the obstacle is incorrectly driven, but not disturbed, it may be attempted again. A signal will sound at the end of the allowed time and the driver must then exit through the finish markers when the total time on the course will be recorded. Placings are determined on a high score basis. Time will decide ties. If a tie occurs in both points and time, the winner will be decided by a drive off or coin toss. Possible obstacles: pick up and carry an object from one place to another, back up between poles and knock down a bar, cross a bridge,  navigate several pairs of cones without knocking off balls, turn 360 degrees with rear wheels staying inside a circle,  etc.
