Arizona Driving and Carriage Society Sponsored Activities

Arizona Driving Trials Series

A series of 6 one day events at various locations in the northern, central, and southern areas of Arizona. Points accumulate for Year End Awards. Open to members only.

Darby Competition
A newer event for ADCS. The first one was held August 4, 2007. Link to Darby Informtion and Rules.

Pleasure Driving Shows
The Festival of Driving Pleasure Show has a variety of classes in pleasure driving, reinsmanship, and some games classes as well. This is a one day show and open to anyone, and held at West World in Scottsdale for several years, and more recently in Queen Creek, AZ at the Horseshoe Park facility.
Scheduling problems and lack of willing organizers meant no show in 2007 or 2008. 2009 saw the return of this show to the new facility.
The 2011 Show will be at Dale Creek Equestrian Village in Litchfield Park, near the Cardinal Stadium.

Combined Driving Events
Competitors must be members of ADS or pay a non member fee.

Two CDE competitions are traditional in Arizona.
The Arizona Combined Driving Event
is ADS and has sometimes been USEQ recognized and held at Goree Farms in Coolidge, AZ in March.  The 2006 - 2008 events offered Training through Intermediate Levels. Prior years have offered Advanced.
2009 and 2010 changed to an HDT - two day and Training thru Advanced Levels.
2011 was be a 2 day CDE for Training-Intermediate (Marathon Sec. A and D return), and an HDT for the Advanced Level.
2012 returns to the three day CDE format, again including an HDT for advanced, so all levels will be offered.

The Old Pueblo CDE,  ADS recognized and held at the Fairgrounds in Tucson, AZ in November or December each year, was
discontinued after the Dec. 2005 event.  Furtue "Old Pueblo" events are uncertain.

Grass Ridge Farms in Sonoita began to offer a CDE in 2005 and expanded to include Intermediate Level in 2006. While not a club sponsored event, many club members will compete at this event which is hosted by club members George and Nina Masek. The Event has continued to be offered yearly in October. 2010 saw an Advanced HDT added so all levels could be served. 2011 again offers all levels.

Pleasure Drives
Held in various locations and at various times, pleasure drives give members a chance to get out with their rigs and enjoy the surroundings and other club members in an informal atmosphere. Drives often end with a pot luck meal. Most recently, drives have been held in the Paulden and Prescott areas.
For 2011, we hope to resurrect a drive in the Flagstaff area at the Goree's cabin.

Clinics
ADCS invites clinicians in several times during the year. Many clinics run over a two day period allowing for more members to participate, or multiple lessons for the same driver. Recent clinicians have included Lisa Singer, Muffy Seaton, Olyf Nyby,
Mary Ruth Marks and Paul Sidwell,  who was sponsored by Grass Ridge.

See the calendar for future dates. Local members also hold "beginners" clinics when there is a demand.
