Other Information: This ADT event, for up to 35 entries, will be held
at 12465 North Tonto
Rd., 25 miles north of Prescott, AZ. Directions are Hwy. 17 north to
Hwy. 69 west, to Fain Rd. (just north of Dewey, AZ). Stay on Fain which
will become Pioneer Parkway and dead end into Williamson Valley Rd.,
where you turn right or north and continue until you pass mile marker
17. Turn left on Fair Oaks Rd., for three miles and left on Tonto Rd.,
for two miles to the event which will be on your left.
Good, mostly dirt footing with some gravel on one or two slopes.
(Tender foots will want shoes and maybe pads just as a precaution.)
Dressage, judged by Allen Funderburgh, will be held in the white fenced
40 by 80 meter arena. VSEs will compete in the 30 by 60 white arena set
inside the larger
arena. VSEs will complete their dressage as first order of go. The
smaller arena will then be removed. VSEs will also go first in hazards,
as they went last last year, as well as experiencing a one hour delay.
It only seems fair that they go first this year.
There will be a special recognition for the best dressage score of the
day.
The cones course will be in a gently rolling small pasture and will be
designed and judged by John Glimpse. The four hazards - Stonehedge,
Flagstaff, Arizona Oasis and Native Land - will probably be joined by a
new fifth called Gates Galore. A shorter cross country route will be
provided for VSEs. The water hazard depth will not exceed 12
inches and land routes will be available for gates A, B, and C. Native
Land will not include the buffalo and large horse for training
divisions.
Navigators are welcome to assist more than one turnout if the entries
are in different divisions.
Sack lunches provided by the Williamson Valley Fire District Auxiliary
will be ($5), cold drinks and water ($1) can be purchased on the
grounds. The WVFD will provide safety and emergency services. They
often serve as volunteers during the event, so offer a friendly smile
and thanks.
September 14th will offer open
driving (no charge) and a marathon prep school clinic ($25),
including such issues as: calculating and managing times for
KPMs, the navigator’s responsibilities and green cards, hazards
driving, and working as a team with your navigator. This seminar
or “prep” school will be led by Allen Funderburgh and John Glimpse.
